P. 21
We implement scalable solutions like load
management that are adaptable, meeting
both current and future EV charging
demands. Adding battery storage and/or
solar is another scalable solution that can
grow with the building's EV charging and
other energy demands.
Peak Time Shaving
By utilising battery storage, we can reduce
peak electricity usage, taking advantage of
lower off-peak rates and solar when
available for more energy-efficient building
and EV charging systems.
Microgrids
By combining solar power with battery
storage, we can create self-sustaining
microgrids that provide reliable electricity,
particularly in remote areas or end-of-grid
locations.
NRMA National Preparation for Future Needs
Infrastructure Rollout
The NRMA’s electric vehicle charging network
currently includes over 50 operating sites
across New South Wales, providing coverage
throughout the state. Recently, the NRMA
offered an invite-only tender to expand its
network both within New South Wales and
nationally, offering members and drivers
additional charging sites, extended national
coverage, higher availability, and higher power
charging options.
The project included:
• The design of the electricity distribution
network (22kV/11kV/415V)
• Civil and electrical engineering capabilities to
construct the site and install the infrastructure
• On-going commissioning, service, and
maintenance of the 250 charging stations
across Australia ran to schedule
Joondalup Bus Depot
At the innovative Joondalup bus depot,
Addelec, along with ABB, and LKS Construction,
successfully designed and implemented a
cutting-edge high-voltage EV charging system.
This groundbreaking solution allows electric
buses to recharge overnight, revolutionising
Western Australia’s public transport system.
This project included:
• Provided data loggers to accurately measure
the power consumption prior to upgrades
• Developed a future-proof design to
accomodate up to 12 buses
• Installation of a 1MW site transformer
• Design and installation of a new Main
Switchboard
• Incorporated design consideration for future
expansion, including comprehensive pit and
pipe network
• Installed and commissioned four ABB Terra124
(120kW) chargers and one Terra24 WB Mobile
Cart
• Provide on-going maintenance and support
for the charging infrastructure
