NRMA National Infrastructure Rollout

The NRMA is set to upgrade its electric vehicle charging network by adding more than 280 new charging sites across regional Australia. This is in addition to its 50 existing sites across New South Wales. Scheduled over the next 36 months, this expansion is part of an invite-only tender to provide members and drivers with broader national coverage and more robust charging options.

Challenge

Facing the challenge of expanding its network to include remote and ultra-remote areas, NRMA needed to ensure the new charging stations were capable of higher power outputs and were built within a tight timeline. The project required a robust solution that could handle the geographical and technical complexities of national expansion.

Solution

To address these challenges, we assembled a National Project Management Team, including Senior Project Managers, an Electrical Engineer, and an OH&S Manager, all working in concert with NRMA to meet the extensive project scope. Our team is further supported by the broader Addelec team spread across Australia, enhancing our capability to manage and execute on a national scale. Our services for this project include ASP Level 3 Design, where our in-house team is responsible for the electricity distribution network design (22kV/11kV/415V). This effort ensures that each new charging station has a reliable electricity supply. With our extensive design and construction experience, we are committed to delivering these services in a timely and cost-effective manner, while minimising design-related expenses and ensuring project efficiency.

Impact

The expansion of NRMA's charging network will significantly boost the accessibility and reliability of EV charging across Australia, particularly in underserved regional and remote areas. This project supports the current demand for electric vehicles and facilitates the broader adoption of EVs by improving infrastructure. It underscores our commitment to delivering comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that propel Australia forward in its transition to sustainable transportation.
